on vacation - day 5-13 (in Sweden)

Being an expat mean that most holidays includes a trip back "home". In my case it means that I try to see as much friends and family that I can in a short period of time, so I move from place to place a bit. This year I was lucky to catch pretty much all the good weather Sweden has had this summer, so it was all good.

I started off visiting my brother M and his S in Stockholm, celebrating his birthday on trying out the fabulous means of transportation Segway.

After an successful trip around Hammarby Sjöstad we had dinner at Döden i Grytan. Nice place, nice people.

During my three days in Stockholm I also got to visit Vaxholm, see Stockholm from a boat, eat some really good food and have drinks with my good friend V at Grand Hotel. All good.

On my way from Stockholm to Gothenburg I stayed for at my grandparents house in Kisa, a quite typical Swedish small town. Very idyllic.

Back on the west-coast I got to spend some time with this awesome guy. All of a sudden he seems so very big compared to the little ones back home in Stavanger!

Apart from hanging out in the green house me and my mom also went horseback riding, on Icelandic horses. That was really great, I haven't been on a horse since I was nine or so, but it worked out fine and I really liked it. Icelandic horses are a good size, too.

I also spend some time with A and his parents in their summerhouse in Bovallstrand on the west coast, but I had to cut that visit a bit short since one of the cats back home became sick. But anyway. 8 eventful days. And then I haven't even written anything about the shopping I did!

gardening delights

Even though our garden is about the same size as the balcony we used to have I like working in the garden better. One of the reasons is that there's more action around me now: One of my neighbours likes to practice singing choir-music, and you can here the deep toot from cruise ships in the harbour. People walk by all the time and kids are playing in the street. Now that I'm on vacation I'm just hoping for some sunny days to get the garden all pretty and cozy, so far I've just managed to clutter it with a lot of stuff.

new dress for Eve

Remember Eve, my phone? Well she started to look a bit battered so I decided to treat her with a new outfit. I found this cover too at Harry Camping in the city centre. This really is one of my favourite shops in Stavanger, they have all kinds of fun stuff. The new cover is from the same manufacturer - La Marelle, but the design is made by an artist called Fabrice Backes that I don't no anything about - but I'll google the name now! I'm so in love with this girl and cat illustration!

dining room chairs 2.0

Well. We don't really have a dining room - In our tiny house the living room has to function as a combined studio, TV-room, dining room, library, entertainment area etc... anyway. I'm still very happy with the dining furniture I thrifted a couple of years ago, but I wanted to try and modernize them a little bit for the new house. I found this great fabric from Åhlens and about 5 million staples later this was the result. And I'm really really happy with it! I think this might be one of my best remakes, if I may say so myself.

On vacation - day 2

I have a very kind colleague and friend, H, that lets me borrow his car when he's not using it. Today me and A took advantage of his kindness and took a road-trip to Egersund and Eigerøy. We didn't have much luck with the weather or the lunch-restaurant in Egersund, but our walk out to the light-house at Eigerøy was lovely.

times lost

Pontus de Wolfe is a Swedish artist that I really like and whose blog I follow. A while back he released a CD-single - very nostalgic! and gave a couple of them away on his blog. And I was lucky to win one of them! No 9! I recieved it while unpacking after the move and the CD-player was in a box somewhere so it took a while until I could listen to it (I didn't want to cheat and listned on Spotify...) but I finally found the CD-player and now it's been on reapeat while I'm reading up on blogposts. And it's so good! It's also nice that talanted Swedish photographer Jessica Silversaga took the cover photo, I've been following her blog for a while too. Yeeez, Sweden really is a tiny country...

i just saw this and it's lovely

Summer vacation 2012 - day 1

Started the day with a mango-smoothie

Hanging out on the couch...

Met E for lunch at Déja Vu.

Went to a second hand shop and found these

And now I'm waiting for A to get home with pizza. It's important not to strain yourself during the vacation. It should be a time of relaxation and recovery.

the blog is BACK!

Hi again! Sorry I've been away for such a long time. There has been stuff. Fixing up the new house, moving in, getting cats, having a sick cat, not having internet at home, lots to do at work. You know, life. It's not until now that I feel I want to start blogging again, and I think I will have more to write about since I now have some more serious home-projects, and yes, there will probably be some cat-pictures every now and then. So, for the first time on the blog, I introduce to you:
